Americas - Final Conclusion
744 Days Later – The Road Continues
When we started this journey, we thought we were planning a long trip. What we didn’t realize was that we were stepping into a completely different way of living.
Over 744 days, we crossed continents, climates, cultures, and countless borders. We drove more than 67,800 kilometers, from the northern reaches of North America to the very end of the South American mainland — and even beyond, reaching Antarctica. We camped in deserts, forests, mountains, and on remote beaches. We faced mechanical challenges, unpredictable weather, rough seas, and strong Patagonian winds. But more importantly, we met extraordinary people, shared stories around campfires, reunited with friends in the most unexpected places, and discovered how small and connected the world truly is.
The road taught us patience. It taught us flexibility when plans changed — whether because of storms in the Drake Passage or shifting weather in Patagonia. It taught us that sometimes the most beautiful camps are unplanned, and that service stations and logistics are just as much part of the adventure as glaciers and volcanoes.
Living in our motorhome for nearly two years simplified life in the most profound way. Space was limited, but experiences were endless. We learned that happiness often comes from simple routines: morning coffee with a view, a quiet sunset over the ocean, or the sound of wind across the steppe.
Storing our motorhome in Uruguay is not the end. It is a comma in a long sentence. A pause to reflect, to return home, to reconnect — and to prepare for the next chapter. Because the journey is far from finished.
The Pan-American road may now be behind us, but the spirit of exploration remains alive. The world is still wide, and there are still roads waiting.
And when we return later this year, we will once again turn the key, start the engine, and continue north.
The adventure continues.
